When most people view a commercial or advertisement they do not think about who the ad targets or why, they just know right away if they are interested or not.  In Steve Craig's article "Men's Men and Women's Women", he talks about the four main ways advertisers attract their audience.  The first strategy Craig talks about is "Men's Men" (189).  He goes on to describe how commercials use "all-male groupings" (191) to make men envy escapism.  Another method that advertisers use is called "Men's Women" (191).  This method usually consists of the fantasy girl who's body is very revealing.  "Women's' Women" (193) is the third way advertisers catch the viewer's attention.  Women want "to attain and maintain [their] physical attractiveness" (194) which causes advertisers to prove to the viewer that their product will do just that.  The last strategy used is the handsome and romantic man known as "Women's Men" (195).  The man is willing to do anything for his girl and he is also for sensitive.  Women are always searching for a man of that caliber which makes them more attracted to the ad.  Advertisers use these four methods to gain the viewer's attention.  All four categories are fantasies, but they use them to make their products more desirable.
